Professor Arijit Biswas is the Head of the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, National University Hospital. The Division is responsible for services at the Delivery Suite, the Fetal Care Centres, the High Risk Pregnancy Clinic and Gestational Diabetes Clinic.  Prof Biswas’s current practice at NUH includes all areas of general Obstetrics & Gynaecology.  His special interest is in the areas of prenatal diagnosis, antenatal ultrasound and high-risk pregnancies. He is currently also the Clinical Director of the department.

Awarded NUH Postgraduate Teaching Excellence Award, 2012. Currently, Prof Biswas is participating in several on-going researches.  He is also involved in a number of projects to study the behaviour, genetics and differentiation properties of Wharton’s jelly stem cells of the human umbilical cord to help produce useful tissues for transplantation therapy. Two patents have evolved from these research groups.
