Professional Statement

A/Prof Goh Kong Yong has more than 30 years of clinical experience.  A/Prof Goh is the former Deputy-Director of NHG Eye Institute. He is the Head of Neuro-Ophthalmology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.  A highly-skilled eye surgeon, he has done more than 3000 cataract surgery to date.

As a neuro-ophthalmologist, he is experienced in managing eye conditions related to neurological and neuro-surgical conditions. Being a pioneer in vision rehabilitation, he has helped numerous patients who suffer vision loss,  tap on their residual vision for optimal performance.

See more [ + ]fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology in 1994 at the world renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in USA where he trained and worked with Professor Joel Glaser and Professor Norman Schatz, who are both leading experts in Neuro-Ophthalmology in the international arena.

In 2008, A/Prof Goh underwent sub-specialty training in Eye Movement Disorders at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Sydney under the tutelage of Professor Michael Halmagyi.  Recently he furthered his interest and training on Vision Rehabilitation at the Low Vision Centre, Tuebingen, Germany under Professor Susanne Trauzettel-Klosinski. 

A/Prof Goh also has an avid interest in the medical education and training of younger doctors.  He has trained and mentored fellow Neuro-ophthalmologists in Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region.
