Dr Zee Ying Kiat is a specialist in Medical Oncology at Parkway Cancer Centre. Before moving to his current practice, he was a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS). Dr Zee received his medical degree with dual distinction from University College London. He was also a recipient of the Drummond Prize in Physiology. After being accepted as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom), Dr Zee worked at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London before completing specialist training in Medical Oncology at the National University Hospital, Singapore. He subsequently underwent fellowship training at The Christie Hospital and Paterson Institute for Cancer Research in Manchester, where his focus was on anti-cancer drug development.

At NCIS, Dr Zee conducted clinical and translational research as principal or co-investigator in local and international trials involving novel
targeted therapies for colorectal, gastric, liver and pancreatic cancers. He has published his work as first author in high impact factor journals that include the British Journal of Cancer, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Lancet Oncology and Nature Reviews. His commitment to research and patient care has been recognised through the receipt of various awards, including the National Medical Research Council Clinician Investigator Support Grant, NCIS Investigator Protected Time Grant and the Excellent Service Award from SPRING Singapore.

Dr Zee is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and founding member of the Hepatopancreatobiliary Association of Singapore. He is a board member of the Mount Elizabeth Hospital Medical Advisory Board, the National Healthcare Group Domain Specific Review Board and the Chapter of Medical Oncologists, College of Physicians, Singapore. In addition to general medical oncology, Dr Zee has a special interest in gastro-oesophageal, hepatobiliary, pancreatic and colorectal cancers.

Dr Florence is a Medical Oncologist with the Singapore Oncology Consultants at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Mount Alvernia Hospital. She completed her MBBS from the University of Singapore in 1979. Dr Florence Lim is trilingual and speaks English, Bahasa Melayu and Hokkien Dialect.

Dr Lim is a Member of Royal College of Physicians (UK and Member of Academy of Medicine in Singapore. She was put on Roll of Specialists International Medicine (Singapore) in 1991. She trained in Ludwig Institute of Cancer Research, Sydney, Australia.

She has served in a number of committees, including as chairman of the Scientific Committee for Hospice Care Update, Council Member of the Hospice Care Association, Vice-Chairman of the Singapore Nursing Board Education for the Post Basic Oncology Nursing Course. She is also a Committee Member for Pediatric & Medical Oncology Course and Internal Medicine Representative to Medical Advisory Board, Mt Elizabeth Hospital and in the committee of Asia-Pacific Congress of Cancer (1995). She has volunteered with the Medical Relief Team for Mt Pinatubo disaster in the Philippines in 1992.

Dr Florence Lim has also published in peer reviewed journals on subjects ranging from the use of various chemotherapy drugs on different types of cancer, management of side effects of chemotherapy, Neurological Complications of Undifferentiated High-Grade Lymphoma and the use of Targeted Therapy in Cancer.

Professional Statement

Dr Tan Yew Oo is a specialist in medical oncology and part of the Singapore Oncology Consultants Group of medical oncologists. Prior to private practice, he was part of the teaching Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and had held appointments as Chief of Medicine and Head of Department of Medicine as well as Division of Hematology-Oncology (1988), Professor of Medicine (1991) at the National University Hospital (NUH). 

Being the first medical oncologist in Singapore, he had helped set up the specialty at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and NUH.  He also held many positions in the NUS, Ministry of Health and professional bodies during his tenure with the university.Dr Tan Yew Oo is one of Asia’s foremost oncologists. He is the mentor and teacher to many doctors including many prominent medical oncologists in Singapore.

 Although Dr Tan resigned from university to go into private practice, he remained active in medical education and postgraduate training and served in the Specialist Training Committee of Hematology, Medical Oncology, Specialist Accreditation Board of Ministry of Health, the Board of Directors of Singapore Health Services (Singhealth) Pte Ltd and currently in Eastern Health Alliance. Recently, he served as a member of the Singapore Medical Council Review Committee.

 After graduating with MBBS from NUS (1971), he proceeded to the United States for his residency in Internal Medicine and later fellowship in Hematology and continued his fellowship in Medical Oncology in Canada. He was certified as Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology and held specialist certification from the Royal of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine and Hematology.
