He was previously a visiting consultant to the National University Hospital, Singapore. Since 2005, he has also been appointed as a visiting senior consultant to Johns Hopkins International Medical Centre, Singapore.

Dr Tham has also contributed numerous articles in local and international journals and various textbooks chapters. He is frequently invited as a speaker in local and international conferences and seminars.

Dr Tham has a strong interest in women's well-being. This includes fibroids in the uterus, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, precancerous and cancerous conditions of the cervix, uterus, ovaries and vulva. He has extensive experience in both open and laparoscopic (minimally invasive "key-hole") surgery and has managed many difficult and complex cases.
