Dr Alvin Ng Choon Yong  is a Consultant Respiratory Physician and Intensivist with The Respiratory Practice. He is currently the President of the Society of Intensive Care Medicine as well as the Vice President of the Singapore Thoracic Society. He is also an executive committee member of the Chapter of Intensivist, Academy of Medicine Singapore. Dr. Lee Yeow Hian is a Consultant Respiratory and Sleep Physician, and Intensive Care Specialist currently practicing at the Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital.

Dr Lee graduated with honours from the Faculty of Medicine at the Queen’s University of Belfast in 1997. He underwent his basic medical training in the United Kingdom and subsequently became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK). Following that, Dr Lee embarked upon his advanced training in Respiratory Medicine in Alexandra Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore.

Since returning to Singapore, Dr. Lee was appointed as the principle physician-in-charge of the sleep laboratory in Alexandra Hospital and subsequently in Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Prior to setting up his private practice, Dr Lee was a Consultant in the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine in Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he was instrumental in developing its sleep services. Dr Jim Teo Yeow Kwan graduated from the National University of Singapore with M.B.B.S.  He subsequently did his training in Internal Medicine and obtained the M.R.C.P (UK) and M.Med (Internal Medicine). He was further trained in Respiratory Medicine & Intensive Care Medicine in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). He is Fellow of Academy of Medicine (Chapter of Respiratory Physicians) and Fellow of American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr Jim Teo furthered his advanced training in intensive care medicine as a Fellow at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Australia under Professor Peter Vernon van Heerden, President of College of Intensive Care Medicine. Currently, he is a member of European Society of Intensive Care Medicine and had obtained his European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine (EDIC).

Prior to joining Mt Alvernia Hospital, he was a Consultant in the Department of Respiratory and Intensive Care Medicine in TTSH. He managed patients in the medical intensive care unit (MICU), including critically ill cases from the recent outbreak of H1N1 and patients from Johns Hopkins Singapore International Medical Centre. Dr John Law is a consultant respiratory physician and intensivist from The Respiratory Practice. He is well-versed in common respiratory conditions such as chronic cough, lung infection and lung cancer and has special interests in COPD and asthma. His other area of interest is intensive care medicine and he is experienced with management of complex ICU cases. Prior to private practice, he worked as a consultant at the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine at Changi General Hospital.

In addition to his clinical duties, Dr Law is also a passionate teacher. Prof Philip Eng built one of the strongest departments in the region in Respiratory & Critical Care Medicine with strong linkages with Chest Radiology, Thoracic Surgery, and Thoracic Oncology. His interests are in Lung Cancer, Bronchoscopy (both flexible and rigid), Intensive Care and Chest Radiology. He has performed more than 500 rigid bronchoscopies, stents, NdYAG lasers and Argon Plasma photocoagulation.

Prof Philip Eng has published more than 120 peer-reviewed articles and books. In 2005, he published a book, “Chest Xrays: Illustrated with 100 cases”, in collaboration with Cambridge University Press, the UK that went on to sell more than 5000 copies within 2 years. He has lectured in many countries including USA, China, Japan, Korea, Australia, India, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, and the Philippines. He has trained many doctors including those from China, Philippines, Macau, India, Indonesia and Hong Kong. In 2007, he was Congress President at the 2nd Asia Pacific Congress of Bronchology, held in Singapore.

Dr Chew Huck Chin is a respiratory medicine specialist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. He has special interests in intensive care medicine, bronchoscopy and non-invasive ventilation. He is well-versed in advanced ventilator support including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), airway pressure release ventilation, high frequency oscillatory ventilation and advanced bronchoscopic techniques such as endobronchial ultrasound guided transbronchial needle aspiration.

Dr Chew graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1999. He then obtained the Master of Medicine (Emergency Medicine) and the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2003. After undergoing specialty training in emergency medicine at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) he further obtained his Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) and the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of UK in 2004, and underwent a dual specialty training in respiratory medicine and intensive care medicine at SGH. He was awarded the European Diploma in Intensive Care in 2009.

Dr Chew has formerly been involved in numerous committees as treasurer and executive committee member of the Society of Emergency Medicine of Singapore, and treasurer for the Society of Intensive Care Medicine of Singapore. In addition, he was also appointed to the Sengkang General Hospital Pro-Tem Committee as well as Clinical Service Planning Committee. He was the supervisor to the Respiratory Therapy Department at Singapore General Hospital from 2012 – 2013, and has a keen interest in the advancing technology of non-invasive ventilation.

In his dual appointments as both Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and Clinical Senior Lecturer at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Dr Chew was awarded Outstanding Educator in Critical Care by Duke-NUS in 2012. He has participated in conducting several courses in the field of critical care ultrasound, mechanical ventilatory support, and critical care simulation. He was also part of the organising committee for the Advanced Ventilatory Workshop in 2013 for the SgANZICS (Society of Intensive Care Medicine of Singapore – Australia and New Zealand Intensive Care Society) conference in Singapore.

In the field of clinical research, Dr Chew has published in a wide variety of arenas with international journals such as CHEST, Journal of Resuscitation, European Journal of Emergency Medicine and American Journal of Emergency Medicine featuring topics on cardiac arrhythmias, measurement of cardiac indices in critically ill patients, severe asthma and pneumothorax. He has been involved in several local and regional clinical trials. He is also an invited reviewer for the Journal of Respirology and Singapore Medical Journal.
