Dr Su Jen Wen was a Consultant in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Singapore National Heart Centre before he left for private practice at the Centre for Cardiothoracic Surgery in Gleneagles Medical Centre in 2013.  At his practice, Dr Su performs a full range of surgery in cardiac and thoracic conditions.  His main interest is in Minimally Invasive Surgery.  In 2009, he pioneered Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery at the National Heart Centre Singapore.  Dr Su was also the first in South East Asia to have successfully resected lung cancer using the Da Vinci Robot.

At the Centre for Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dr Su applied the state-of-the-art technique in coronary artery bypass surgery, valvular surgery (aortic, mitral and tricuspid), atrial septal defect closure, ventricular aneurysm repair, arrhythmia surgery and acute ventricular septal rupture to achieve the best results for his patients.

Dr Eugene Sim is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon practicing at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. He has performed more than 3000 cases of open heart surgery. Dr Eugene Sim is renowned for his pioneering work in cardiac surgery.

In Nov 1995, Dr Eugene Sim was one of the first surgeons in Asia to perform minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass grafting and has performed more than 100 such procedures to date. He was also the first surgeon in Asia to perform off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting using the Octopus stabilizer and has conducted many training courses to train surgeons in the use of this new technique.

He was one of the first surgeons in the region to perform thoracoscopic ligation of a patent ductus arteriosus in Dec 1995, Thoracoscopic anterior release for scoliosis in January 1996, thoracoscopic thymectomy in 1997, multivessel off pump coronary artery bypass grafting in July 1997 and robotic assisted coronary artery bypass surgery in April 2000. Dr Sim was appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Society of Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery in 2001.

Dr Eugene Sim has conducted more than 10 approved trials on new surgical techniques and equipment. He is a director of two biotechnology companies and sit on many scientific advisory boards. He has also been consulted by and advised various international medical device companies.

Dr Sim is renowned for his work on cell and myoblast transplant for heart failure. His work has been presented at the Scientific sessions of the American Heart Association, The American College of Cardiology, The European Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and the European Congress of Cardiology. On 14 May 2002, he become the first surgeon in Asia to perform pure myoblast transplantation in the failing heart.

Dr Eugene Sim is bilingual and speaks both English and Mandarin. He is the Member of several organizations such as: Mayo Fellows Association, College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, Singapore Cardiac Society.

After obtaining his medical degree from Cambridge University, UK, Dr Lim Yeong Phang joined the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, SGH in 1998.  He was awarded a MOH Fellowship to train in the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA in 2005.  On his return, he was appointed Senior Consultant in Singapore National Heart Centre and Visiting Consultant, KK Women and Children’s Hospital.  He left for private practice in 2012.

Dr Lim has a keen interest in Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery including endoscopic harvesting techniques for conduits in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting and non sternotomy Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting.
