His training in the care of head and neck cancer patients was at the Royal Marsden Hospital - the world's oldest cancer hospital - and at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane under Professor WB Coman. He also was awarded the prestious Simpson-Smith Travelling fellowship to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre, New York in 2004. Keeping with recent advancements in the field of surgical oncology, Dr Jeeve has completed advanced training in robotic head and neck surgery in South Korea and was part of the team at Tan Tock Seng Hospital to perform the first transoral robotic surgery case there. Dr Jeeve is trained in paediatric ENT - having been privileged to work at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London. In 2011, he received a Singapore Ministry of Health(HMDP) award to pursue care of the Professional voice in the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre, USA.

Dr Jeeve's main area of specialist interest is in thyroid surgery, voice surgery and head and neck cancer surgery. he was Chief of the Head and Neck Cancer Service at Tan Tock Seng Hospital until October 2012. He had the opportunity to treat many complex head and neck cancer and thyroid cancer cases, including cases from the region and the Middle East referred to him by Johns Hopkins International Medical Centre. He convened the first inaugural joint head and neck cancer meeting in Singapore with the head and neck cancer societies of Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong in September 2011. He has taught in several international head and neck courses both in Australasia (Brisbane 2009, Perth 2010) and in Southeast Asia (Myanmar 2011, Malaysia 2012).

Dr Jeeve is one of a handful of ENT surgeons in Singapore on the General Medical Council's (GMC) Specialist Register in the United Kingdom. He is also a registered as a medical practitioner in Australia and Malaysia.

Dr Jeeve is widely published and continues to have an active interest in teaching and research. He has authored three book chapters and 27 peer-reviewed scientific papers todate. He is assistant professor at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He is an examiner in the exit examinations in Otolaryngology in Singapore, and has been an external examiner to universities abroad. Dr Ralph E Stanley was a member of the Chapter of Surgeons Committee in the 1990’s as well as in the Organising Committee of the Head and Neck Surgery Course that was held in Singapore. Dr Ralph E Stanley was the Head and Senior Consultant in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery) at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) from 1992. During this period, he went on to set up an Endoscopic Sinus Surgery Laboratory with comprehensive facilities for the training of younger surgeons in this specialized field in SGH. He also spearheaded the development of Head, Neck and Thyroid surgery and Advanced Endoscopic Sinus Surgery in the ENT Department (SGH). This is particular reference to Endoscopic Pituitary Surgery which was performed in the department with the Neurosurgical Team. His other contributions have been in the development of a Comprehensive Voice Laboratory and clinic at SGH leading to a successful Post-Laryngectomy Voice Restoration Program.

He was also honoured as Visiting Professor in Stanford University Medical Centre, Palo – Alto, California, USA in 1993. Dr Ralph E Stanley was a member of the Quality Assurance Committee of Gleneagles Hospital in 2004/2005 and 2005/2006. A/Prof Mark LC Khoo is highly regarded as a head and neck surgical oncologist. He is also widely published in international journals in the field of head and neck cancer and has authored several notable articles on nasopharyngeal cancer and thyroid cancer.

His love for Head and Neck Surgery began early, inspired greatly by his mentor Prof. Soo Khee Chee (Director, National Cancer Centre, Singapore). With the blessings of TTSH, Dr Khoo had the good fortune of operating with Prof. Soo in SGH once a week for 5 years from 1995 to 1999. Simultaneously, he started the first dedicated cancer service for head and neck cancer patients in TTSH in 1996. This critical and formative 5 year period set the foundation for his practice today.

In August 1999, Dr Khoo left for Toronto, Canada to complete a 2 year fellowship in Advanced Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery under the auspices of the American Head and Neck Society. To date, he remains one of only a handful of people in Singapore to have completed the official American head and neck surgery fellowship programme.

Upon returning to Singapore in 2001, Dr Khoo was appointed Chief of the head and neck service in TTSH, as well as visiting consultant to the National Cancer Centre Singapore, both appointments he continues to hold today. In 2007, he was amongst the founding faculty of the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School where he is currently Adjunct Associate Professor.

Dr Leong Hoo Kwong graduated MBBS from the National University of Singapore in 1982. After his internship, Dr Leong decided to pursue a surgical career. In 1984 he was awarded the Howard-Eddey Medal for being the top candidate in Southeast Asia for the Primary Surgical Fellowship Examination conducted by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He completed the Final Surgical Examination in 1987 in the United Kingdom and was conferred the FRCS. On completion of his advanced training in 1990 and was awarded a Ministry of Health Scholarship for Overseas Subspecialty Advanced training. During the years 1991/1992, he trained with Professor Michel Portmann in Bordeaux, France and Professor Ugo Fisch in Zurich, Switzerland. These are centers of international excellence for otology (middle ear surgery), neuro-otology (inner ear surgery) and microscopic skull base surgery. These became his areas of subspecialty interest. He was made a Fellow of Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 1991 and Fellow of International College of Surgeons in 1992.

On his return to Singapore, Dr Leong was appointed Senior Lecturer and Consultant in the University Department of Otolarygology, National University Hospital. At the same time, he maintained his interest in children ENT management by collaborating with KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital as a Visiting Consultant.

Dr Eng Soh Ping has a strong pioneering spirit and has performed several firsts in the field of otology. In December 2006, Dr Eng Soh Ping blazed the trail by becoming the first ENT surgeon in South East Asia to perform the semi-implantable hearing aid (Retro-X). In 2012, he became the first surgeon in the private sector (Singapore) to perform the Hybrid cochlear implant.

Despite a hectic clinical schedule Dr Eng Soh Ping remains active in research and academics. He has published numerous articles in international and local peer-reviewed journals, contributed in book chapters including the Textbook of Laryngology (2006) and Voix Parlée et Chantée (2007), given more than 30 academic presentations in local and international meetings and was organizing chairman for more than 25 academic meetings. Over the years in these two hospitals, he has acquired special interest in the both adult and Paediatric ENT conditions including tonsils, adenoids, ears, thyroid, throat, salivary glands and sleep conditions. Since his return to the Singapore General Hospital in 2005, Dr Leong has pioneered the usage of Image-guided surgery in ENT, especially in functional endoscopic sinus surgeries (FESS) and minimally invasive endoscopic surgeries of sinonasal and skull base tumours. He was in the evaluation committee for the setting up of the Khoo Teck Puat Neuro-Navigation Integrated Operating Suites, which is the world’s first state-of-the-art digitally-integrated neuroscience centre.

Dr Leong Jern Lin always had a keen interest in both basic and clinical science research and was awarded the Singapore Cancer Society Overseas Fellowship in 1999.

He researched on the effects of Radiation on Epidermal Growth Factor Receptors (EGFR) expression in Squamous Cell Carcinoma under the tutelage of Professor Randal Weber and Professor Ruth Muschel from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA from 1999 to 2000. He was the first ENT resident in the Singapore Otolaryngology residency programme to be granted this unique research opportunity as part of the residency programme. 

Dr Leong Jern Lin‘s academic achievements were affirmed by being the only Singaporean ENT doctor to have won prizes at the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology Annual Meeting, 2003 (Poster, 3rd place) and the American Rhinologic Society, 2005 (Poster, 1st place). (Pg 49) Dr Leong had also published extensively in both local and international peer reviewed journals.

He had also authored in book chapters of Head and Neck Surgery and Otolaryngologic Clinics of North America. He is the principal investigator for over 9 research projects and was awarded the prestigious Health Services Development Programme grant (over $700,000) in 2006 from the Ministry of Health to study the use of Computed Tomography/Magnetic resonance imaging (CTMR) fusion scans in minimally invasive endoscopic skull base surgery.

Dr Leong Jern Lin was also the lead investigator in the study of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma screening using Narrow Band Imaging. Other research areas include the skin prick tests and immunotherapy for allergic rhinitis. Dr Leong is also an appointed reviewer for both the Singapore Medical Journal and Respirology.

He also has a strong passion for teaching. He is a Clinical Lecturer with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine in the National University of Singapore. Dr Ignatius Mark Hon Wah was fortunate to be able to spend time there with leaders of Sleep Medicine like Professor Christian Guilleminault, Dr Rafael Pelayo and Dr Anstella D Robinson to benefit from their vast experience in the area of Sleep Medicine. He passed the American Board examinations in Sleep Medicine in 2006 and was certified a Sleep Specialist by the American Board of Sleep Medicine. This makes him one of a few ENT Specialists worldwide and the only ENT Surgeon in Singapore with this prestigious qualification.

While he was with the Singapore General Hospital, Dr Ignatius Mark Hon Wah was in charge of running the Sleep Clinic in the Department of Otolaryngology to streamline the management of patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. He was also on staff at the Sleep Disorders Unit in SGH to treat patients with Sleep Disorders and to provide surgical expertise to patients who require surgery for the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and Snoring.

The Sleep Disorders Unit is a multi-disciplinary unit consisting of Neurologists, Respiratory Physicians, Psychiatrists, ENT surgeons, Dental Specialists, Psychologists and Sleep Technicians providing comprehensive outpatient and inpatient care to patients with sleep disorders.

Dr Ignatius Mark Hon Wah is actively involved in clinical and basic research and is currently the Principal and Co-investigator of several research projects involving Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma.

Dr Ignatius Mark Hon Wah has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, has presented at numerous international and national conferences and is a reviewer of the Singapore Medical Journal and Annals of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

Dr Ignatius Mark Hon Wah was the Course Director of the Snoring and Sleep Apnoea Surgery Course (2008); Co-chairperson of the Singapore Sleep Symposium (2008); and now sits in the Executive Committee for Singapore Sleep Awareness Week 2010 (SSAW) as Chairman of the organizing committee. SSAW is an inaugural campaign, which will be held 19 - 28 March 2010 in Singapore to increase the public awareness of sleep-related issues; educate on the importance of good sleep and common sleep disorders.

Dr Ignatius Mark Hon Wah is also a member of various professional organizations. These include the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Singapore Sleep Society, the Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Singapore and Singapore Medical Association. He is also a committee member in the Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Singapore.

His administrative activities while in SGH include being the Civil Emergency Coordinator for the Department of Otolaryngology, the Family Physician Symposium Coordinator and the Consultant in charge of the ENT Specialist Outpatient Clinic.
