Professional Statement

Dr Cheng is Director of The Eye Surgery Partners. She is an eye surgeon in Cataract and Comprehensive Ophthalmology), with a subspecialty interest in managing adults and children with vision, tearing, eyelid problems and eye tumours.

In 1998, Dr Cheng graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manchester, UK. She completed her basic and advanced training programme at the Singapore National Eye Centre and National University Hospital of Singapore. During her training had the appointment of Chief Medical Officer and Chief Registrar at the National University Hospital of Singapore. In 2004, she was accredited with the Master of Medicine (MMED) in Ophthalmology and Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (MRCSEd). She was admitted to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh (FRCSEd) in 2008. She is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (FAMS).

Dr Cheng joined the National University Hospital of Singapore in 2008 as Associate Consultant and held a joint appointment as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore. In 2010, Dr Cheng was awarded the Health Manpower Development Award for a one-year overseas fellowship training in oculoplastics at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Royal Children’s Hospital, Australia.There under the tutelage of Prof TJ Sullivan, she developed a special interest orbit and eye diseases for adults and children.

Upon her return to Singapore, Dr Cheng was promoted to Consultant. She was frequently consulted on the diagnosis and management of children and adults with vision, tearing and eyelid problems. She was also a mentor and tutor to residents at the eye department, guiding them during their clinical practice and supervising their cataract surgeries.

In 2011, Dr Cheng was appointed the Chief of the Eye service at JHS serving Alexander Hospital and Jurong Medical Centre. She led a team of doctors, nurses, and optometrist to provide quality eye care for patients.

She is also an active member of the regional Oculoplastics community speaking in several regional conferences.

She is the treasurer of the Asia Pacific Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Professional Statement

Dr Inez Wong is the Director of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Service at Eagle Eye Centre. Her special interests are in strabismus management and surgery (in adults and children) and paediatric ophthalmology, specializing in a range of eye problems in children such as refractive errors, myopia, amblyopia, external and anterior segment diseases, cataract, glaucoma, and retinopathy of prematurity.

Dr Wong also manages all general ophthalmological problems in adults and is experienced in performing adult cataract surgery using the latest toric, multi-focal and multi-focal toric intraocular lenses.

Prior to joining Eagle Eye Centre, Dr Wong was the Head of the Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Service at National University Hospital (NUH), and Visiting Consultant at Jurong Health Services (JHS) and Health Promotion Board (HPB).

Dr Wong was actively involved in medical education, and was Assistant Professor and Undergraduate Medical Education Director in Ophthalmology at the National University of Singapore (NUS) for a number of years. Aside from teaching medical students, she has also trained many residents as a member of the core faculty of the NUHS Ophthalmic Residency Program, and had been a regular examiner in both the undergraduate and postgraduate ophthalmology examinations.

Apart from having published numerous peer-reviewed articles in notable journals and book chapters, Dr Wong has presented her work and conducted instructional courses at many regional and international meetings in various aspects of paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
