Dr. Lee Yeow Hian is a Consultant Respiratory and Sleep Physician, and Intensive Care Specialist currently practicing at the Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital.

Dr Lee graduated with honours from the Faculty of Medicine at the Queen’s University of Belfast in 1997. He underwent his basic medical training in the United Kingdom and subsequently became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK). Following that, Dr Lee embarked upon his advanced training in Respiratory Medicine in Alexandra Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital in Singapore.

Dr Lee was awarded the Health Manpower Development Program Award to pursue a fellowship in Sleep Medicine at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research in Sydney where he trained under world leaders in Sleep Medicine such as Professor Ron Grunstein. He obtained his Masters degree in Sleep Medicine at the University of Sydney in 2007, where he worked with another doyen in field, Professor Colin Sullivan, the inventor of CPAP (Continuous Airway Pressure) therapy. This makes him one of the few Sleep Medicine Specialists in Singapore who are registered with the Singapore Medical Council.

Since returning to Singapore, Dr. Lee was appointed as the principle physician-in-charge of the sleep laboratory in Alexandra Hospital and subsequently in Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Prior to setting up his private practice, Dr Lee was a Consultant in the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine in Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he was instrumental in developing its sleep services. He continues to be a visting consultant and helms the sleep services in both Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

Dr Lee is accredited as a specialist in intensive care medicine by the Ministry of Health in Singapore and was appointed as a trainer in intensive care medicine by the joint committee on specialist training.

Dr. Lee is recognised for his expertise in Sleep Medicine and has been invited to speak at major scientific conferences internationally as well as in the region, including the World Congress of Sleep Apnoea in Seoul in 2009. He is passionate about the education and professional development of Sleep Medicine Professionals and has been involved in the training of sleep physicians and technologists in Singapore as well as in the region.

Professional Statement

Besides practicing Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Dr Constance Lo Pau Lin has an interest in sleep disorders and sleep related breathing disorders.  She has experience in ultrasound guided pleural drainage, diagnostic and therapeutic medical thoracoscopy. She also has a keen interest in the advancing technology of non-invasive ventilation. |

Dr Lo is often invited to teach in both local and regional meetings. For example, she was involved in the 1st Asia Pacific region conference of the International Union against TB and Lung Disease, 2007, 2nd Asia Pacific Congress of Bronchology July 2007, Pleura and Pleuroscopy Workshop, 2010, and Malaysian Thoracic Society Annual Congress, 2009.

Dr Jim Teo Yeow Kwan graduated from the National University of Singapore with M.B.B.S.  He subsequently did his training in Internal Medicine and obtained the M.R.C.P (UK) and M.Med (Internal Medicine). He was further trained in Respiratory Medicine & Intensive Care Medicine in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). He is Fellow of Academy of Medicine (Chapter of Respiratory Physicians) and Fellow of American College of Chest Physicians.

Dr Jim Teo furthered his advanced training in intensive care medicine as a Fellow at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Australia under Professor Peter Vernon van Heerden, President of College of Intensive Care Medicine. Currently, he is a member of European Society of Intensive Care Medicine and had obtained his European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine (EDIC).

Prior to joining Mt Alvernia Hospital, he was a Consultant in the Department of Respiratory and Intensive Care Medicine in TTSH. He managed patients in the medical intensive care unit (MICU), including critically ill cases from the recent outbreak of H1N1 and patients from Johns Hopkins Singapore International Medical Centre. He also initiated the first bedside percutaneous tracheostomy in the MICU.

Dr Jim Teo is an Intensive Care Medicine trainer appointed by the Specialist Training Committee in Singapore. He was an instructor for Intensive Care Medicine courses in various public hospitals. He was also a Clinical Teacher with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Currently, he is an instructor for courses such as Basic Cardiac Life Support Course, Advanced Cardiac Life Support Course and Fundamental Critical Care Support Course.

For his achievements in the public sector, he was awarded Courage Star Award in 2003 for his contribution during the SARS outbreak. He was awarded TTSH Excellent Service Award in 2006 and TTSH 10 Year Long Service Award in 2009.

Dr Jim Teo is experienced in the clinical management of patients with lung tumours, pneumonia, asthma, chronic cough, interstitial lung disease, sleep disorders and non-invasive ventilation.

Dr Chew Huck Chin is a respiratory medicine specialist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital and Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. He has special interests in intensive care medicine, bronchoscopy and non-invasive ventilation. He is well-versed in advanced ventilator support including extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), airway pressure release ventilation, high frequency oscillatory ventilation and advanced bronchoscopic techniques such as endobronchial ultrasound guided transbronchial needle aspiration.

Dr Chew graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1999. He then obtained the Master of Medicine (Emergency Medicine) and the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2003. After undergoing specialty training in emergency medicine at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) he further obtained his Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) and the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians of UK in 2004, and underwent a dual specialty training in respiratory medicine and intensive care medicine at SGH. He was awarded the European Diploma in Intensive Care in 2009.

Dr Chew has formerly been involved in numerous committees as treasurer and executive committee member of the Society of Emergency Medicine of Singapore, and treasurer for the Society of Intensive Care Medicine of Singapore. In addition, he was also appointed to the Sengkang General Hospital Pro-Tem Committee as well as Clinical Service Planning Committee. In his dual appointments as both Adjunct Assistant Professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and Clinical Senior Lecturer at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Dr Chew was awarded Outstanding Educator in Critical Care by Duke-NUS in 2012. He has participated in conducting several courses in the field of critical care ultrasound, mechanical ventilatory support, and critical care simulation. He was also part of the organising committee for the Advanced Ventilatory Workshop in 2013 for the SgANZICS (Society of Intensive Care Medicine of Singapore – Australia and New Zealand Intensive Care Society) conference in Singapore.

In the field of clinical research, Dr Chew has published in a wide variety of arenas with international journals such as CHEST, Journal of Resuscitation, European Journal of Emergency Medicine and American Journal of Emergency Medicine featuring topics on cardiac arrhythmias, measurement of cardiac indices in critically ill patients, severe asthma and pneumothorax. He has been involved in several local and regional clinical trials. He is also an invited reviewer for the Journal of Respirology and Singapore Medical Journal.
