Dr Marc Tay has received several awards including the Liberation of Kuwait Medal (1991), the British Gulf War Medal (1991), the Overseas Service Medal (Operational) SAF (1991), the Singapore Surgical Society Book Prize (1984) and the Royal Free Hospital Exchange Programme Award (1983).

Dr Tay worked at the Eye Department of the Singapore General Hospital, the Tan Tock Seng Hospital, the Toa Payoh Hospital and the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC).
