Professional Statement

Dr Lim Hong Liang is a senior medical oncologist with more than 25 years of experience. In addition to general medical oncology, he has a special interest in lung cancers, and head and neck cancers.

Dr Lim graduated from the National University of Singapore (MBBS) in 1986. He received his training in internal medicine and medical oncology at the National University Hospital Singapore (NUH). In 1992, he received a Japan JICA scholarship for further training in the Department of Thoracic Oncology at the Tokyo National Cancer Centre Japan. Dr Lim was also trained in high dose chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant at the St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney Australia in 1995 under a scholarship from the Ministry of Health Singapore.

Prior to joining the Parkway Cancer Centre, Dr Lim headed the Thoracic Oncology Service, Head and Neck Service and Bone Marrow Transplant Program at the National University Hospital. He was also the lead medical oncologist at the Tan Tock Seng Hospital Lung Tumour Clinic from 1996 to 2005. Before leaving for private practice in 2005, Dr Lim was the Chief of the Department of Haematology and Oncology and the Associate Chairman of the Medical Board of the National University Hospital.

Dr Lim is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine and a member of American Society of Clinical Oncology and International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. He is also a member of the Singapore Cancer Registry Advisory Committee. Past positions include President of the Singapore Society of Oncology, member of the Ministry of Health Advisory Committee for Cancer Care and Medical Oncology Training Committee.

Dr Patricia Kho is a medical oncologist with sub-specialty interests in breast, lung and gastrointestinal cancers.

Dr Kho graduated from University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK (MBBS, 1995) and worked at National University Hospital, Singapore before continuing her specialist postgraduate training in medical oncology at Sydney Cancer Centre, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney. She was accepted as Fellow of Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2003.

Dr Kho was a Post Doctorate Fellow at the Genomic Institute, Singapore before her appointment as Associate Consultant in the Department of Medical Oncology, National University Hospital, Singapore in 2003. In 2005, she was appointed as a Staff Specialist at Liverpool Hospital, a public university hospital in Sydney and subsequently as Head of Department and Director of Clinical Trials Unit. In 2009, she joined the Northern Haematology and Oncology Group, a private practice group and continued to be a Visiting Scientist to the Garvan Institute of Research, Sydney. Her interest in clinical research had led her to obtain a Master of Philosophy (Medicine) with a research thesis entitled “Optimising Adjuvant Treatment for Colorectal Cancer”. Dr Kho is a member of American Society of Clinical Oncology, Medical Oncology Group, Australia, International Association of Lung Cancer, Australian Lung Trials Group and Australasian Gastrointestinal Trials Group.

Dr See Hui Ti is a Medical Oncologist at Parkway Cancer Centre, Mount Elizabeth Hospital. She was previously a Consultant in Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Centre as well as a Visiting Consultant at the KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital specialising in adult breast and gynecologic cancers.

She is registered with the General Medical Council (UK), and worked at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, UK, before continuing her internal medicine training at the Singapore General Hospital. She has recently obtained her fellowship from the college of physicians (FRCP) from Edinburgh.

Dr See was awarded the Singapore Government HMDP fellowship in 2002 after completing advanced oncology training at the National Cancer Centre. From 2003 to 2004, she furthered her training in Medical Oncology at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Dr Teo Cheng Peng was awarded the Public Service Commission Scholarship by the Singapore Government to study Medicine at the National University of Singapore. He graduated with a Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery in 1984 and was conferred a Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) three years later. Under another scholarship, Dr Teo received his advanced training at Royal Marsden Hospital, the leading Cancer Centre in the United Kingdom.

Upon returning, he started the Bone Marrow and Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Transplant program at the National University Hospital. In 1995, he was then recruited to develop the Autologous Stem Cell Transplant program for solid tumours in the Department of Medical Oncology, Singapore General Hospital. After a successful implementation of the clinical program, he continued his career in Gleneagles Hospital, where he continued his work with stem cells in the fields of haematology and medical oncology. He continued to develop his interest in the field of stem cells and was one of the pioneers in starting an autologous stem cell bank in Singapore.

Dr Lynn Chiam is a dermatologist, practicing at Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre, Singapore. Dr Jude Lee is a General Surgeon practicing at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, who is particularly adept at Basic and Advanced Minimally Invasive Gastrointestinal Surgery. Dr Lim ZiYi is a specialist in haemato-oncology and haematopoietic stem cell transplantation. He received his medical degree from the University of Edinburgh, UK and subsequently underwent specialist training in haemato-oncology at Kings College Hospital, London.

Dr Lim worked at Kings College Hospital for 9 years during which he helped develop the department into one of the largest allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplant centres in Europe. He has extensive experience in various forms of allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (including umbilical cord blood and haplo-identical transplantation) and has personally overseen the management of more than 300 bone marrow transplants since 2006.

Since his return to Singapore in 2011, Dr Lim has been a Consultant at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore. He was awarded the NUHS Clinician Scientist Program Award in 2012. He was the clinical lead for the acute leukaemia service as well as the adult clinical cellular therapy service.

Dr Lim is a member of several international committees on haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and has been invited to deliver lectures on the management of acute leukaemia, as well as the use of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation at many regional and international conferences

Adj A/Professor Hee Hwan Tak is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon who specialises in degenerative, traumatic, neoplastic, and congenital disorders of the spine, as well as spinal deformities. Dr Yeo has been Consultant and the Head of Heart Failure Service at Tan Tock Seng Hospital since 2008.   During the SARS outbreak in 2003, he was one of the doctors who cared for the SARS patients.  For his dedicated service, he was awarded a Courage Star Award by the Singapore Government.

Dr Leong Hoe Nam was a consultant in the Department of Infectious Disease in SGH before he left to join Raffles Hospital.   He then set up his own clinic at Mount Elizabeth Hospital at Novena. He had first-hand experience in managing outbreak situations including SARS and H1N1 pandemic infection.
