Dr Audrey Looi completed her Ophthalmology training at the Singapore National Eye Centre in 2000. She began her sub-specialty training in Oculoplastic Surgery at the eye centre from 2001 to 2002. Following this, Dr Looi was awarded HMDP funding to train further at the University of British Columbia where she completed her fellowships in Oculoplastic, Orbital and Ocular Pathology under the supervision of Prof Peter Dolman, Prof Jack Rootman and Prof Valerie White respectively, returning to Singapore in 2004 with a Best Fellow research prize. 

Dr Audrey Looi was appointed Head of the Oculoplastic Service at the Singapore National Eye Centre in 2007 and served in the position till 2016. Dr Looi also served as Clinical Director of the General Eye Clinic at the Singapore National Eye Centre from 2012 to 2019. She was also a Visiting Consultant at the Kandang Kerbau Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Changi General Hospital and the National Neuroscience Institute. Ming Fong has 22 years of clinical experience working as a physiotherapist. Ming Fong did her undergraduate physiotherapy training at the Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore. She went on to further her professional studies with University of Sydney and University College London.

Ming Fong started her career as a physiotherapist at Tan Tock Seng Hospital in 1995. She left Tan Tock Seng Hospital in 1999 to pursue her interest in Cardiopulmonary Physiotherapy. Ming Fong was also the invited speaker at various cardiac meetings, conferences throughout her stint at National Heart Centre of Singapore.

Throughout the 18 years at National Heart Centre of Singapore, Ming Fong has established and refined inpatient and outpatient cardiac physiotherapy services. She pioneered the Mechanical Circulatory Support Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD) exercise rehabilitation program, the first in Singapore. She has also worked closely with the cardiologists to establish protocols for post cardiac device implantation rehabilitation program for patients post pacemaker (PPM), implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD), cardiac re-synchronization therapy (CRT-D). Ming Fong also started the Pulmonary Rehabilitation outpatient exercise rehabilitation program for patients with chronic thrombo-embolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) in Year 2016.

Dr Alvin Ng Choon Yong  is a Consultant Respiratory Physician and Intensivist with The Respiratory Practice. He is currently the President of the Society of Intensive Care Medicine as well as the Vice President of the Singapore Thoracic Society. He is also an executive committee member of the Chapter of Intensivist, Academy of Medicine Singapore. Dr Lim graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore in 2000. He obtained his postgraduate degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburg in 2005 and Master of Medicine (Otorhinolaryngology) in 2010. He completed his ear nose throat surgical training in Singapore and was accredited as a specialist in Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) in 2013.

 He was the first surgeon to be awarded a Ministry of Health clinical rhinology fellowship in Europe, where he trained under world-renowned rhinologist Professor Wytske Fokkens and endoscopic skull base surgeon Professor Christos Georgalas, to expand Singapore's repertoire in the management of rhinology, endoscopic skull base surgery and sinonasal allergy. Upon his return, he introduced the concept of local allergic rhinitis, use of SFU, and en bloc resection in the management of inverted papilloma, to the local ENT fraternity.

 Dr Lim started the allergy an immunotherapy services to manage difficult nasal allergy and smell disorder when he serves as a consultant in Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Being the Lead ENT tutor ad adjunct lecturer in Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, National Technological University/Imperial College, also allowed him to plan an implement and entire ENT curriculum. Dr Karmen Wong is a Medical Oncologist at Singapore Oncology Consultants in Gleneagles Medical Centre, Mount Alvernia Medical Centre and Farrer Park Medical Centre.

She completed her MBBS in 1986 at the University of Adelaide, Australia, MRCP (Int Med) in 1990 at the Royal College of Physicians, UK and MMed (Int Med) in 1990 at the National University of Singapore.

Dr Karmen Wong is regarded as one of Asia’s foremost oncologists with close to 20 years of clinical practice. She pioneered the first multi-disciplinary breast cancer treatment in Singapore some 15 years ago. This involved establishing a platform for treatment in other cancers with different disciplines of doctors. Dr Karmen Wong also initiated the bone marrow transplant programme in solid tumour in Singapore in 1997. She spearheaded the multi-disciplinary tumour board and Breast Cancer Clinic in Singapore General Hospital.

Dr Karmen Wong presented the 1st Asian study in attitudes of cancer treatment among Asian patients in the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology in 1999. She has also written peer review articles and published chapters in textbooks. Professional Statement

Dr Ang Peng Tiam graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with Bachelor in Medicine and Surgery in 1982. He did his residency in Internal Medicine and was conferred the Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) in 1986. He completed his Fellowship in Medical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Centre, Houston, Texas and Stanford University Medical Centre in 1989.

Dr Ang was awarded Singapore President’s scholarship in 1977. He was awarded the Prof Sir Gordon Arthur Ransome Gold medal for being the top candidate in the Master of Medicine Clinical Examinations in 1986, and Singapore’s National Science Award in 1996 for his outstanding contributions in Medical Research. In recognition of his public service, the Sultan of Kedah conferred upon him a datukship in 2003. Dr Ang was founding Head of the Department of Medical Oncology at Singapore General Hospital from 1991 to 1997. He held the concurrent post of Director of the Oncology Centre and Clinical Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, NUS. He is a council member of Singapore Cancer Society.

He was past President of Singapore Society of Oncology. He maintains a keen interest in research and has published and presented more than 100 papers and abstracts.

Professional Statement

Dr Khoo Kei Siong presently serves as the Assistant Master – Administrative Affairs in the Council of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He also sits on the Medicine Advisory Committee in the Ministry of Health as its Deputy Chairman.

Before he moved to his current practice, Dr Khoo was a Senior Consultant and Head of Department of Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS). He was the founding Director of the Division of Clinical Trials and Epidemiological Sciences.

Dr Khoo graduated from the National University of Singapore and received his training in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology at the Singapore General Hospital. He was awarded the Singapore Government HMDP fellowship in 1993 to pursue advanced training and research in breast cancer at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York.

Dr Khoo is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the European Society of Medical Oncology and a fellow of the Royal College of Physician in Edinburgh. He was President of the Singapore Society of Oncology from 1998 to 2000.

Professional Statement

Dr Chua Tju Siang graduated from the University of Glasgow Medical School and continued his postgraduate medical training in Scotland at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. After attaining the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 1998, Dr Chua returned to Singapore and trained in Gastroenterology at Changi General Hospital. Dr Chua Tju Siang was awarded specialist accreditation in Gastroenterology in 2002. In 2003, Dr Chua was awarded a one-year fellowship to train in diagnostic and interventional endoscopic ultrasonography at the Centre for Research and Education in Endosonography of Montreal, University of Montreal, Canada, where he received intensive and comprehensive training in endoscopic ultrasonography. In 2007, he was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.

In 2008, Dr Chua spent some time at the National Cancer Centre, Japan, for training in endoscopic submucosal dissection. He also spent some time at Jichi Medical University Hospital, Japan, for training in double balloon enteroscopy and endoscopic submucosal dissection. In 2009, Dr Chua performed the first endoscopic submucosal dissection for early gastric cancer at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore.

Dr Chua is actively involved in clinical research and has wide research interests ranging from Helicobacter pylori to advanced endoscopic techniques. He has published widely and has received several international awards. In 2001, he was awarded the Warren and Marshall Helicobacter Pylori Award for research into the link between various strains of Helicobacter pylori and gastric cancer. The award was presented to him in Australia by Professors Robin Warren and Barry Marshall, both of whom are Nobel Prize winners in Medicine.

Dr Chua was awarded the Young Clinician Award by the Asian Pacific Congress of Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy in 2000 and by the World Congress of Gastroenterology in 2002. In 2004, Dr Chua was awarded an United European Gastroenterology Federation Travel Award to travel to Prague, Czech Republic to present his research findings on the use of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration in the evaluation of pancreatic cysts at the United European Gastroenterology Week. His submission was awarded Best Abstract for the conference. In 2005, Dr Chua’s work on the use of endoscopic ultrasound in the evaluation of common bile duct stone disease was presented at the Asia-Pacific Digestive Week in Korea and won the Distinguished Poster Award.

Dr Chua is actively involved in medical education and was a Clinical Teacher with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He has been involved in the teaching and demonstrating of endoscopic techniques, both in Singapore and in the ASEAN region. He has been invited to speak on a variety of topics relating to gastroenterology and endoscopy, both to the general public and to the medical profession. He was previously the Scientific Chairman of the Gastroenterological Society of Singapore. He is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy as well as the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr Chua is a Gastroenterologist with subspecialty expertise in the field of interventional endoscopy. This includes therapeutic endoscopy (including ERCP, EMR, ESD and EUS) and endoscopic ultrasonography (including interventional EUS procedures). He has a strong interest in diseases relating to the hepato-pancreatico-biliary system as well as gastrointestinal cancers.  Acknowledged as an accomplished endoscopist, Dr Chua is a member of the Quality Assurance Subcommittee of the National Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme of Singapore.

Dr Dennis Chua is a ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist practising in Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. He has a subspecialty focus in facial plastics and reconstructive surgery, and is well-trained in advanced ENT surgery, including endoscopic and robotic ENT/thyroid surgery, and transoral robotic and laser microsurgery. Dr. Terrence Yap received his degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 1996. Following graduation with honours he returned to Singapore, becoming the first Singaporean to practice chiropractic in his home country.

 Dr. Yap also holds an undergraduate qualification in Exercise Science from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada. Professional Statement

Christina Shi Qin graduated as a physiotherapist from Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), Singapore in Year 2000. She went on to further her professional studies in physiotherapy with University of Sydney in Year 2002, and was conferred Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy). In Year 2012, Christina obtained her Master in Clinical Physiotherapy from Curtin University, Western Australia. She is a fully-registered physiotherapist with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), Singapore.

Christina Shi Qin started her career as a physiotherapist at National Heart Centre of Singapore (NHCS) in Year 2000. During her employment with NHCS, Christina had the opportunity to work with patients across different phases of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, from intensive care unit (ICU) to community rehabilitation at Singapore Heart Foundation (SHF). The patient populations range from stable heart failure patients to post-cardiothoracic surgical patients (Left Ventricular Assist Device, post-heart or lung transplants). Christina has also been on attachment in Wisconsin and Chicago, USA for advanced training in cardiac rehabilitation.

Christina Shi Qin left NHCS in Year 2006 and joined a private hospital to fulfil her mission to practice in other areas of physiotherapy. While practising at the private hospital, Christina was emplaced to be the inpatient in-charge, responsible for managing the inpatient team and was tasked by the manager to establish rehabilitation protocols and guidelines for the clinical services. She was also responsible for mentoring new and junior physiotherapists, as well as involved in clinical education for NYP physiotherapy students. Her scope of physiotherapy practice includes paediatrics, woman’s health, neurological & geriatric rehabilitation, orthopaedics, and musculoskeletal injury.
