Dr Tan Chong Tien is an Orthopaedic Surgeon, practicing at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore. He completed his MBBBS from The Monash University, Australia in 1974 and started his career as orthopaedic surgeon since 1980 working in various government hospitals including Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Toa Payoh Hospital and Alexandra Hospital as orthopaedic registrar, senior registrar, and consultant.
In 1989, He worked as orthopaedic consultant in Singapore General Hospital and was later promoted to senior consultant. In 1995, the orthopaedic department in SGH was reorganised in order to develop the subspecialties within orthopaedics practice and he was ... During these ten years of his position as the Spine Service Director, the team experienced tremendous development in the field of spinal surgery. He undertook many major and complicated reconstructive spinal surgeries for spinal problems including spinal trauma, spinal infections, spinal tumours, degenerative spinal conditions and scoliosis. They also started minimally invasive procedures including percutaneous endoscopic lumbar disectomy, percutaneous vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty, and minimally invasive lumbar spine fusion and instrumentation.
