Dr Tang Kok Kee is a Neurosurgeon practicing at Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre. He completed his MBBS from the National University of Singapore, M Med (Gen Surg) from the National University of Singapore in 1994 and FRCS - General Surgery from Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 1994. From 1997 to 2000, he trained in neurosurgery under the late, world renowned Dr Anthony Hockley of the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Professor Garth Cruickshank as well as Dr Graham Flint of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, England, a pioneer in the field of hydrocephalus. 

In 2003, Dr Tang Kok Kee was awarded Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Fellowship Award for Paediatric Neurosurgery to the Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Oakland, California, USA. 

Since his return to Singapore, Dr Tang Kok Kee has been pursuing research along these lines. His current project involves evaluating brain compliance in the context of increased intracranial pressure, trauma, brain oedema and hydrocephalus.

In 2004, he became a co-investigator to a Biomedical Research Council (BMRC), Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) research project entitled “Non-Invasive Study Correlating Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Clinical Findings.” The principle investigator for this project was Dr Samuel ES Ng and the research has been completed with results accepted in both local and

Dr Tang Kok Kee has benefitted tremendously from his interactions with them and is confident to handle complex neurosurgical problems like giant aneurysms, pineal tumours, intramedullary spinal tumours, spinal disorders and challenging skull base tumours.

Other clinical interests of Dr Tang Kok Kee include paediatric neurosurgery, including paediatric tumors and paediatric spinal problems like open neural tube defect, tethered cord from spinal lipoma and split cord malformation. He also treats cerebrovascular diseases such as cerebral aneurysms, cerebral arteriovenous malformations, and cerebral revascularisation. Dr Tang Kok Kee is experienced in treating brain tumors and skull base tumors, and he can perform spinal surgery, endoscopic surgery and gamma knife radiosurgery.
