Dr Daniel Tan Yat Harn is a radiation oncologist currently practising at Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. He started his career as a radiation oncologist after graduating from the National University of Singapore in 2002.

Dr Tan trained at international medical centres with a focus on neuro-oncology. This included proton therapy at the University of Pennsylvania’s Roberts Proton Therapy Centre, USA; spine radiosurgery at Princess Margaret Hospital and Sunnybrook’s Odette Cancer Centre in Toronto; and advanced radiation technologies at Tokyo Metropolitan Komagome Hospital in Japan.

Dr Tan was the national project coordinator of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) initiative to train and develop specialists in Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), an advanced radiation technique, in the Asia-Pacific region.

 He was the organising chairman of the inaugural Radiology Asia 2015, a regional radiology meeting held in conjunction with the Singapore Radiological Society’s 24th Annual Scientific Meeting. He has frequently been invited to lecture on these subjects at regional meetings such as the Philippines Radiation Oncology Society Annual Meeting, the Annual Scientific Congress of the Malaysian Oncological Society, the Asia-Pacific Breast Cancer Summit and the International Society of Geriatric Oncology Asia Pacific Conference.

Dr Tan helms the clinical unit of Asian American Radiation Oncology (AARO), the radiotherapy and oncology division of Asian American Medical Group. In collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre (UPMC), AARO manages and provides clinical supervision for radiation oncology units in Asia, bringing cutting-edge radiation technologies to developing regions.

Dr Tan is currently pursuing his MBA in Healthcare Management at NUS because he believes that good medicine depends on good management.

Dr Melvin Look Chee Meng is a General Surgeon practicing at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Specialist Centre and Parkway East Medical Centre, Singapore. Dr Lim Khong Hee graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1992. He obtained his postgraduate degree in 1998 and was a Clinical Fellow (HMDP) in Upper Gastrointestinal and Laparoscopic Surgery at the renowned Princess Alexandra Hospital (Brisbane) in 2002. He was admitted to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in the Specialty of General Surgery in 2004. He also became a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine (Singapore) in 2004.

Prior to establishing his private practice, Dr Lim was the Chief of the Upper Gastrointestinal Service and Senior Consultant in the Department of General Surgery, Tan Tock Seng Hospital. During his tenure as the Director of the Centre for Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Dr Lim encouraged the development of complex and cutting-edge laparoscopic skills and techniques as well as led the organisation of basic, advanced and masterclass laparoscopic courses. He had also established network with international centres of excellence such as Seoul National University Bundang Hospital and International Endoscopic Obesity Centre, in E-Da Hospital (Taiwan).

Dr Lim has had wide exposure to upper gastrointestinal and advanced laparoscopic procedures such as radical gastric resections with systematic lymphadenectomy, laparoscopic fundoplication, and laparoscopic surgery for morbid obesity. He has also gained much experience in both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy (including ERCP). Dr Lim was actively involved in the teaching of basic and advanced surgical trainees and was the Programme Co-ordinator for the Introduction to Colonoscopy Programme (Virtual Reality-based). He was also a Clinical Lecturer in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and an Examiner in the Final Professional Examination for the Degrees of MBBS.

Dr Lim was the Track Leader for the Laparoscopy Symposium within the National Healthcare Group (NHG) Annual Scientific Congress 2008 and a Clinical Tutor for the Exit Exam Preparatory Course 2009 and 2010 organised by the Chapter of General Surgeons. Dr. Alex Ooi Koon Hean graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1975. Subsequently, he underwent his specialty training in both Singapore and United Kingdom, including the prestigious St. Mary’s Hospital in London.

His Centre for Screening and Surgery in Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital specialises in the screening and treatment of common cancers such as breast, colon, stomach, thyroid, etc. His motto is ‘Screening Saves Lives’ and believes in detecting cancer early as the cure rate in such situations can be more than 90%. Dr Kum specialises in using minimally Invasive approaches (key-hole surgery) to curing cancer.

Dr Kum is a pioneer in Asia for Minimally Invasive Surgery (Laparoscopic Surgery) and Robotic Surgery. He has extensive experience with laparoscopic surgery for gallstones, hernia and weight management.

In 1994, he was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan Scholarship to Cologne, Germany, to train in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery. He was also a Fellow in Cleveland Clinic, USA, in 1996.
